The loungechair merdeka is built around two tapered panels of solid teak that carry the whole structure — no brackets, no metal legs. Between them a single channel-stitched bolster runs unbroken from one armrest to the other, so back and arms read as one gesture rather than three parts bolted together.
A domed brass medallion pins each panel to the frame, and a slim brass rail ties the base. Every edge that meets the body is radiused; every edge that meets the floor is squared. Each piece is bench-made to order in our Jakarta atelier and signed by the craftsman who assembled it.
Vacuum bouclé and velvet weekly with a soft-brush attachment, working with the pile rather than against it. Blot spills at once with a dry, undyed cloth — never rub, and never pull a snagged bouclé loop; trim it flush instead. Wipe leather with a barely damp cloth and condition it twice a year.
Wipe the teak frame with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Polish the brass medallion and base rail twice a year with a non-abrasive metal polish, keeping it clear of the upholstery. Keep the chair out of direct sunlight — teak in a natural finish will shift tone unevenly if half of it sits in the sun.
Every order is inspected, blanket-wrapped, and delivered by our white-glove courier — within 10–14 working days across Java and Bali, and 3–5 weeks for international destinations. Assembly and packaging removal are included.
If the piece isn’t right, contact us within 14 days of delivery to arrange a collection. Items returned in original condition are refunded in full, excluding shipping. Made-to-order colourways are exchangeable but non-refundable.

Velvet
Woven in small batches from long-staple cotton at an OEKO-TEX® certified mill, our velvet carries a dense 380-gram pile that resists crushing and wears evenly. Dyes are fixed in closed-loop baths that recycle ninety percent of their water, and every bolt rests for two weeks before cutting so the pile can settle.
Wood
Frames are turned from solid European walnut, kiln-dried for six weeks to a stable eight-percent moisture content before it ever touches a lathe. Joints are hand-fitted and pinned rather than glued alone, so the chair can be taken apart for repair decades from now. Timber comes exclusively from FSC-certified stands.
Brass
Fittings are cast from solid brass at a family-run foundry in Boyolali, then hand-brushed to a soft satin sheen. Left unlacquered, the metal deepens into a warm patina over years of use — a living record of every touch. Offcuts are returned to the melt, keeping waste below two percent.
loungechair merdeka is LUNO’s study in soft geometry — a chair drawn from arcs rather than angles. Two tapered teak panels do all the structural work, and everything that touches the body is rounded: the bolster that wraps from arm to arm, the radiused frame, the domed brass medallion that pins the two together. Each silhouette begins as a full-scale drawing in our Jakarta atelier, then passes through the hands of eleven craftsmen before it earns the LUNO stamp.
The lounge chair is offered in 1 colourways, pairing bouclé, leather, or velvet with solid teak in a natural, reddish walnut, or black finish — and brass or gunmetal fittings to match.
Technical drawings for loungechair merdeka are available for architects, interior designers, and specifiers working this piece into a plan. Each sheet is drawn to scale and carries every dimension you need to place the chair, check clearances, and confirm it passes through a doorway before it is ever made.
Files are issued for the standard configuration. Custom dimensions, contract-grade upholstery, and made-to-order colourways are drawn per project — contact us with your specification and we will prepare the sheets.
